I believe that this interaction of the educational community with social events constitutes a valuable component that can contribute to the more efficient planning and shaping of regional educational policy and I will work to consolidate it even further. In this light, it is a great honor for me and I feel the responsibility that the position of Regional Director of Education of Crete entails.

The breadth of spirit in addressing educational issues, teamwork, methodicality, the achievement of the goals set each time, as well as evaluation and feedback, are the ingredients that will lead the educational community of our region to even more creative actions and results.

All together, the educational community as a whole, but also each and every one of us individually, from whatever position we find ourselves, to offer what we can – and we can do a lot! – for the school we dream of: with happy children, who will live without deprivation and will be educated, a school harmoniously tied to childhood and their pursuits in the modern world that is changing very quickly, a school with happy teachers when they go to and when they leave their work.

Dear, colleagues,

We live in an exciting era with historical characteristics, an era in which constant change is its characteristic par excellence. The school, as a living cell of social developments par excellence, cannot observe them indifferently, it must change and expect to do what is necessary to create happy and free people. We must provide the necessary pedagogical support to our students, tomorrow’s citizens of the digital age, so that they can adequately face the digital challenges they are called upon to face – often without the necessary knowledge and skills.

Within this framework, I am ready to discuss ideas, proposals, for the PDE to cooperate with educational institutions, teachers’ associations and scientific associations, but also with institutions of Crete to develop actions and intervention programs for our students on various issues. I have many ideas and thoughts and I await yours to co-shape the framework of our interventions.

Education is for all of us who serve it more than just our work: it is our life and passion, it is the daily fatigue when we leave school, it is everything that makes our substitute colleagues leave families and loved ones to serve it in different places every year, but it is also our satisfaction when we see happy faces of children in our schools. And all this, often without the necessary elements to work more efficiently. The public school is the historic bet of every society that wants its children to learn, that is, to enjoy this universal human right and social good and to develop things further than they have been so far – and this task is on our shoulders.

For my part, I would like to point out that as Regional Director of Education, I give priority to strengthening the functional relationship between the PDE and the other education structures in order to further highlight the important role they have to play. I also emphasize the strengthening of a framework of mutual understanding and common understanding for the consolidation and emergence of a new collaborative relationship between the two levels of education, for the benefit of students, which is also a central goal of all of us.

Dear, colleagues.

I am always available to discuss and co-formulate opinions and proposals. We can all offer from every position in education and no one, no one is left behind!

My 27 years of educational experience so far has been accompanied by my many years of service at the former Experimental and current Model High School of Heraklion, 20 of the 27 years that I have been a teacher I have served in this school. It is a public school whose principles are teamwork, extroversion, creation, commitment to the development of the abilities and skills of its students and staff and innovation. All of these, I have either implemented as a teacher or supported as a Director because they concern educational principles that are aligned with my perception of education and are summarized in the words:

Vision, teamwork, responsibility, methodicality, efficiency
“With reason and with a dream”, I seek and expect everyone’s help so that we can look into the eyes of the children with peace of mind that we have progressed so that “dreams take revenge”.

May the best always be ahead of us!

Dear colleagues and associates.
